Got Braces?

God, I remember my braces.

Four years without eating caramel, taffy, or anything else that could pull them off.  Not a pleasant experience.

It’s easy enough to visualize teens dealing with the classic rite of braces. However, more than one million adults in the United States and Canada now go through the same process while facing their own unique challenges. One million people are wondering, “What can I eat tonight that won’t hurt my teeth or my braces, but satisfy me, my spouse or my family?”

Just in time for the holidays, The Braces Cookbook 2: Comfort Food with a Gourmet Touch is a unique cookbook with 50 tender recipes for enticing entrees, ever-soft appetizers, and delicate desserts, with gourmet touch ideas from Chef Amee Hoge.

The book offers offers 50 tender-teeth recipes that are not just tasty alternatives, but real meals with real ingredients. No longer do adults in braces have to restrict themselves to macaroni and cheese with pudding for dessert when they can have Cranberry Glazed Chicken with Almond Buttery Bars (and Baked Stuffed Mushrooms for starters).

Author Pamela Waterman explains, “Adults need eating options that fit their business and family lifestyles. Having braces can seem limiting, but it doesn’t have to be that way.” Having experienced both teenage and adult braces herself, Waterman notes that the cookbook meets these demands by offering tender yet enticing alternatives illustrated with full-color photography.

In addition to braces-friendly meals that include fish, chicken, beef, and vegetarian entrées, The Braces Cookbook 2 features soft appetizers and desserts as well as a wide range of easy-eating suggestions and hints on eating out (As a bonus, if a meal needs an upgrade from family dinner to dinner with the boss, Chef Amee’s Gourmet Touches take each meal from simple to select. Readers will even find tips on navigating the business world with a silver smile.)

Author Pamela Waterman , who also wrote The Braces Cookbook: Recipes You (and Your Orthodontist) Will Love (The Discovery Box 2006), joined Chef Amee Hoge, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute of New York City, to create this grown-up gourmet sequel.

The Braces Cookbook 2: Comfort Food with a Gourmet Touch retails for $14.95 and makes the perfect holiday gift for anyone coping with braces. It will be available in early December at Amazon, Braces Cookbooks and other retail outlets.
